Frequently Asked Question
How do I get internet on my console or media player?
Last Updated 3 years ago
Game consoles, smart TV's and other media players generally don't support WPA2-Enterprise, the authentication and encryption protocol used to connect to the Eduroam network.
If you're in a room with active ethernet ports (currently, everywhere except MPH) then you can connect your console or TV to that port and it should work straight out of the box. If your device doesn't have ethernet, or you already have something else connected to your wired network port then you can use either the UIS' UniOfCam-IoT network (MPH, White Cottage) or the experimental St Edmund's IoT (everywhere else). Instructions for UniOfCam-IoT can be found on UIS help pages, as they manage this service themselves.
If you need to connect to St Edmund's IoT, you'll need to fill out a Manual Registration form. First, you need to find the "Wi-Fi MAC Address" for your device. This is usually on a label on the device, or can be found in the settings or on the packaging. Then, complete the Manual Registration Help Topic in the Support System
